תְּפוּסָה, תְּפוּשָׂה f. (תָּפַס) 1) part. pass. of תָּפַס, q. v. —2) seizing, possession; תְּפוּסַת הבית that which belongs to the house, estate (before division among heirs). B. Bath. 137ᵇ האחין … בת׳ הבית if brothers acquire an Ethrog out of the estate. Gen. R. s. 75 אל תאמר … כלום מתְּפִיסַת הבית say not, when he (Jacob) went out …, he took with him something that belonged to the (paternal) estate; a. e.—Esp. earth surrounding a buried corpse, which belongs to the dead, and must be taken along when transferred.
