שָׁבַר II (b. h.; denom. of שֶׁבֶר II) to buy provisions. Gen. R. s. 91 אף … לִשְׁבָּר אוכל Joseph, too, knew that his brothers were coming down to Egypt to buy food; ib. כל מי שנכנס לִשְׁבּוֹר וכ׳ let whomsoever enters (Egypt) to buy food register his name &c; Tanḥ. Mikk. 8.
