XXX, 24 (Kimḥi פַּטִּים). Targ. Prov. XV, 17.—Pes. 76ᵇ מפטמי מהדדי they are fattened (or flavored) with one another. —3) to flavor one’s words (cmp. בְּסַם), to console, cheer up. B. Mets. 66ᵃ פַּטּוּמֵי מילי בעלמא הוא it was merely meant to cheer up (the neighbor, not as a binding promise).
