פַּטָּם, one who fattens animals for sale, dealer in fattened animals, opp. to רועה. Bets. 29ᵇ; Tosef. ib. III, 6 הולך … אצל הפ׳ וכ׳ a person may go (on the Holy Day) to a dealer whose regular customer he is, and say, give me a dove &c. Bets. 38ᵃ שור של פ׳ an ox at the dealer’s stall, contrad. to של רועה.
