סִבְנִי סִבְנִי, (cmp. Arab. sabanu, nomen oppidi … a quo panni nomen acceperunt (Freytag); cmp. σάβανον, sabanum) a cloth, esp. a head-cover which fell down over the shoulders, sibni. Y. Sabb. VI, 8ᵃ bot. כריך סִבְנֵיה עליהון (ed. Zyt. סבונה, corr. acc.) he tied his sibni around them; Y. Yeb. XII, 12ᵈ top סִבְנֵה. Gitt. 59ᵃ סי׳ (Ar. סוּ׳), v. חוֹמֶס. Cant. R. to V, 14 אפי׳ סבניה לא הוה יכיל למיסבל וכ׳ (he became so weak from studying that) he could not even carry his sibni (in his hand), but others had to take it off for him; v. next w.—Pl. סִבְנִין.
