קָטָפוֹרַס, (καταφοράς, acc. pl.) downward strokes, in gen. blows, lashes. Pesik. B’shall. p. 81ᵇ עשר ק׳ אתה לוקה וכ׳ thou art doomed to receive ten strokes,—they are the ten Egyptian plagues—, and to pay a fine &c.; Yalk. Ex. 225. Lev. R. s. 18 בו"ר נותן ק׳ וכ׳ a human authority decrees lashes, so does the Lord; Num. R. s. 7 יש לו קטפירס (read: נותן קטפו׳). Ex. R. s. 30 [read:] לוקה ק׳ (not לקח ה׳ ק׳) receives a certain number of strokes; a. e. Ib. קטפורוס (corr. acc.).
