קָדְקֹד, head, skull, vertex; summit. Neg. X, 10, a. e., v. גַּבַּחַת. Men. 37ᵃ בין עיניך זו ק׳ ‘between thy eyes’ (Deut. VI, 8), that means the vertex; expl. ib. מקום וכ׳ the place on the head where the child’s brain is seen to pulsate; (Sifré Deut. 35 בגובה של ראש); Erub. 95ᵇ. Gen. R. s. 62, end בא מקָדְקֳדוֹ של מדבר he came all the way from the highest point of the desert. Midr. Till. to Ps. XXIII, 4 (expl. גיא צלמות ib.) בק׳ של מדבר; a. e.—Pl. קָדְקֳדִים. Lev. R. s. 9; s. 25, a. e. בקָדְקֳדֵי ראשיהן by the tops of their heads.
