תַּוָּרָא תַּוָּרָא, (denom. of תּוֹר III) ox-driver, plougher with oxen:—Pl. תַּוָּרֵי, תַּוָּו׳. B. Mets. 30ᵃ בתורי וכ׳ (R. Ḥan. in Tosaf. בתוו׳) it refers to ploughers with oxen (left without superintendence), who may do much damage (Rashi: בתוֹרֵי when ploughing with oxen); Ḥull. 84ᵇ. B. Mets. 73ᵃ בתורי דנפיש וכ׳ when the orchard (of which the fruits are sold on the tree) is ploughed by ox-drivers (or בתוֹרֵי with oxen), when the risk to the trees is great; (R. Ḥan. in Tosaf.: בתוורי it refers to cattle-dealers who, buying the calves before they are born, run great risks). ערכים סמוכים
