תּוּפִינֵי, constr. (b. h. תֻּפִינֵי; אָפָה) a sort of pastry (Talm. חֲבִיתִּים). Men. 50ᵇ (expl. תפיני, Lev. VI, 14) תֵּאָפֵינָה נאה they shall be baked so as to look nice (i.e. well baked and then fried, v. טִיגָּן); (oth. opin.) תאפינה נא they shall be baked when half done (v. נָא II, i.e. fried and then baked); (oth. opin.) תאפינה רבה they shall be baked several times; (Var. רכה soft, with an admixture of oil; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 60); Y. Shek. VII, 50ᵈ תואפינה נא (read: תֵּיאָ׳); תּוּפְנָה רכה soft pastry; תופנה נוֹיי a nice-looking pastry; Yalk. Lev. 488 תופי נא (read: תּוּפִינָא נא); תופינא רכה, תופינא נוי. Y. Shek. l. c. בשעת הֲבָאָה ת׳ וכ׳ the tufiné are offered when the high priest brings his initiation offering, but not in the morning, before his initiation.
