Ib. 42ᵇ כתיב ש׳ וכתיב שופך the name is once written Shobach (II Sam. X, 16), and once Shophach (I Chr. XIX, 16); חד אמר … עשוי כשׁוֹבָךְ one authority says, his real name was Shophach, and he was called Shobach, because he was built like a dove-cote (of high stature, v. next w.), v. שָׁפַךְ.
