רטי, (cmp. רָטַב) to moisten, sprinkle, soften. Tosef. Toh. V, 16 הרוֹטֶה פשתנו (ed. Zolk. הרוטב) he who wets (squirts) his flax (to make it soft for spinning). Ib. IV, 11 אף הרוֹטֵיהוּ וכ׳ ed. Zuck. (Var. הסוטיהו, corr. acc.; ed. Zolk. הרטיבין, read: הרוֹטְבוֹ) he who wets it (the flax spun by a menstruant) is likewise unclean on account of his mouth (coming in contact with it through the medium of the liquid in squirting).
