קְסַם I, to cut, chip. Y. Shebi. II, 34ᵃ וקַסְמָהּ בידיה וכ׳ he chipped it (their argument) with his hand, i.e. made a motion with his hand to indicate his dissent (and said) &c.
קְסַם I, to divine. Targ. Ez. XXI, 26. Targ. Deut. XVIII, 10 קָסֵים ed. Berl. (oth. ed. קָסֵם, incorr. קוֹסֵם); a. e.—Gitt. 68ᵇ חזי … קָסֵים אחיך saw a diviner who was divining, and laughed (at him). Ib. לִקְסוֹם … תותיה let him divine what is under him.
