קוּנְטְרָא, c. (קְטַר II, with anorg. נ) knot, knotted web as of matting, sieves &c.; laces or ropes drawn transversely. Y. Meg. III, 74ᵇ bot. (describing the arrangement of Esth. IX, 6-10, beginning with איש on one side, under which the names of the sons of Haman are arranged in a column, and with ואת on the other side, v. אָרִיחַ) [read:] שכן הוא שניץ ונחיץ כהדין קינטרה so that (in reading transversely) it appears laced and closely corded like transverse lacing (of a web); [Beth Jos. to Ṭur Or. Ḥayim 691 קנטירא, read: קינטרא; Treat. Sof’rim XIII, 6, variously corrupted].—Pl. קוּנְטְרָן. Y. Sabb. VIII, 10ᶜ top ההן דעבד ק׳ נפן וכ׳ (Or Zaruʿa Sabb. 64 קוּשְׁרָן מנפן) he who makes (on the Sabbath) knotted (corded) webs, sieves, mats &c.
