קַבְּלָנוּת f. (v. קַבְּלָן) 1) assumption of an obligation, unconditional surety. B. Bath. 174ᵃ, v. קַבְּלָן. Ib. 173ᵇ (ref. to Gen. XLII, 37) הא ק׳ היא this is a case of absolute obligation. —2) work on contract, opp. to time work. B. Mets. 112ᵃ ק׳ עובר עליו וכ׳ as regards contract work, does the employer that withholds the wages transgress the law (Lev. XIX, 13) &c.? Tosef. B. Mets. VII, 3 קבלן … לפי קַבְּלָנוּתוֹ if the contract laborer meets with an accident which prevents his finishing the work, you must pay him in proportion, according to his contract.—3) land tenancy on a fixed rent.
