פְּעֵי, פְּעָא, to cry, bleat, low. Targ. II Esth. I, 2 (3) אימרין פַּעְיִין the lambs bleated.—Ḥull. 43ᵃ וושט אכלא ביה ופָעְיָא ביה the œsophagus which is affected when the animal eats and also when it lows (or breathes, Rashi).
