פְּסוּל, (preced.) blemish, disqualification. Yoma I, 1 שמא יארע בו פ׳ because something might happen that would disqualify him for the service of the day. Pes. 56ᵃ שמא … יש במיטתי פ׳ is there perhaps, which God forbid, a blemish in my couch (an unworthy person among my descendants)? Tosef. Mikv. I, 19, a. e. מקוה פְּסוּלוֹ בעצמו a bath (that has become unfit for ritual purposes) has its unfitness in itself; בן גרושה … שפסולו באחרים whereas the son of a divorced woman (married to a priest) owes his disqualification to others (his parents). Ib. פסולו ביחיד his (its) unfitness is caused by a single person; פסולו בבית דין by a court; Mikv. III, 1 לעולם הוא בפסולו וכ׳ it remains in its condition of unfitness until &c. Zeb. VIII, 3 אין מביאין קדשים לבית הפ׳ we must not wittingly cause sacred meat to be brought to the place where the unfit things are burnt. Ib. X, 7 שלא יביא … לידי פ׳ for one must not cause T’rumah to become unfit; a. v. fr.
