    Hif. - הֵפִיק 1) to give forth, utter; 2) to let pass, forego. Kidd. 39ᵇ; Ḥull. 142ᵃ, v. לָחַךְ.—Erub. 65ᵃ (play on Job XLI, 7) כל המֵפִיק מגן בשעת גאוה he who foregoes the Prayer of Benedictions (v. מָגֵן) in the moment of haughtiness (who being in wine has enough reverence left to him to feel his unworthiness to stand up in prayer); מאי משמע דהאי אפיק לישנא דעבורי הוא (Ms. O. מפיק) what authority is there for using the root פוק in the sense of passing? (Answ.: ref. to Job VI, 15). Ib. ר"י אומר כל שאינו מפיק איתמר R. J. says, the relation is ‘he who does not utter’ (prayer in a state of drunkenness); מאי משמע דההוא פוק לישנא דגלויי הוא where is the authority for using פוק in the sense of revealing?
