סִרְכָא
  1. סִרְכָא, adhesion, cohesion. Bets. 40ᵃ משום ס׳ דמשכא on account of the adhesion of the skin (because the hide is hard to flay unless the animal is watered before slaughtering).—[In ritual: ס׳ an adhesion of lobes of the lungs to each other or to the chest.]
  2. סִרְכָא, climbing, v. סְרִיכָא.
  3. סִרְכָא, habit. Ab. Zar. 30ᵃ ס׳ דגברא נקיטה she is supposed to have adopted her husband’s habits. Snh. 51ᵇ ס׳ בעלמא נקט (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l.) he merely used the customary phraseology. Ber. 16ᵃ סִרְכֵיה נקט, v. דַּוְושָׁא.—
  4. סִרְכָא, (cmp. b. h. שָׂרִיג) branch, scion of a figtree. Cant. R. to I, 1 (prov.) ס׳ דאקים תאינתא a scion which confirms (the reputation of) the fig tree, i.e. a good son of a good father; (Yalk. Sam. 134 בִּרְכָּא תניתא (some ed. כרכה), prob. to be read: ברכא דמקים תינתא).—[סרכי, Yalk. Gen. 116, v. שְׂרָכָא].
