מַרְגְּנִיתָא, (v. מַרְגָּלִיתָא) pearl or jewel. B. Bath. 146ᵃ שחקי ליה מ׳ וכ׳ they ground for him a pearl worth &c. Kidd. 26ᵇ תלה בה מ׳ וכ׳ he set in it (the needle) a pearl (or a precious stone) worth &c. Ib. 18ᵃ נקיט מ׳ בידיה he possessed a pearl (a precious slave). Ber. 33ᵇ תקינו לן מ׳ they composed for us a precious prayer. Yeb. 94ᵃ הרה ליה … למדרש ביה מ׳ R. E. had an opportunity for a most precious interpretation, opp. חספא. Ib. 92ᵇ, a. e., v. דְּלֵי; a. fr.—Pl. מַרְגַּנְיָיתָא. R. Hash. 23ᵃ מסקן מ׳ they bring up pearls (from the bottom of the sea).
