שְׁקִיטְנָא, (cmp. שָׁקוּט) flamingo (from its abruptly bent beak).—Pl. שְׁקִיטְנָאֵי, שִׁיקְטְ׳. Ḥull. 63ᵃ ש׳ אריכי שקי וכ׳ Ms. M. a. Ar. (Ms. R. 1 שִׁקְטְנָאֵי; ed. sing., v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) flamingos, those with long legs and red are permitted, the short-legged and red are forbidden.
