שְׁעִיתָא, (cmp. שְׁעוּעִית) a species of beans, prob. the Egyptian bean (v. Sm. Ant. s. v. Colocasia). [The definition given Ab. Zar. 38ᵇ is fabulous and obviously founded on confusion with the colocasia bean, which is sown on moist earth and sinks into the water.] Ab. Zar. 38ᵇ Ms. M. (ed. שִׁיעֲתָא), v. פְּסִילְיָא.
