Kat. 28ᵃ bot. אחוי ליה ש׳ דנורא he (the angel of death) showed him a rod of fire.—Pl. שׁוֹטִין, שׁוֹטֵי. Lam. R. introd. (R. Joḥ. 1) דנקטין לי בשתין ש׳ וכ׳ they urged me (the sun) on with sixty rods of fire and said to me, go, let thy light shine. Keth. 77ᵃ הא במילי הא בש׳ the one means force with words, the other, with rods.
