צְמִיתוּת, irredeemable sale; לצ׳ absolutely, finally. Arakh. 31ᵇ (ref. to Lev. XXV, 30) לצ׳ לחלוטין latsts’mithuth means absolutely; ד"א לצ׳ … המתנה מ"ט צמית צ׳ another interpretation: latsts’mithuth is an amplification serving to include a gift (to be final if not redeemed within a year); why? Because צמית would have sufficed to indicate a final sale, and ts’mithuth amplifies the scope of the law.
