צַוָּאָה, (צָוָה) command, order, verbal will. B. Bath. 147ᵃ בצ׳ בעלמא by mere expression of his will (without symbolical possession); a. e.—Pl. צַוָּאוֹת. Ber. 15ᵇ וכתבתם … אפי׳ צ׳ ‘and thou shalt write them’ (Deut. VI, 9; XI, 20) the entire section must be written out (in the T’fillin), including the orders (‘thou shalt write’, ‘ye shall bind’ &c.). Ib. (ref. to the roll written for the Soṭah, Num. V, 23) אלות … צ׳ אינו כותב the priest writes the curses but not the instructions; Sot. 17ᵃ צ׳ וקבלות (not צוואת) the instructions and the affirmations (by the woman saying Amen).
