פִּתְחוֹן, constr. (b. h.; פ׳ פֶּה opening of the mouth, point of attack, fault-finding; excuse for wrong-doing. Sifra Vayikra, N’dab., ch. II, Par. 2 שלא ליתן פ׳ פה למינין לרדות in order not to give heretics (believers in plurality) occasion for rebellion. Gen. R. s. 8 בכל מקום שאתה מוצא פ׳ פה וכ׳ wherever (in the Scriptural text) there is an opportunity for heretics (to find pluralistic allusions), you will find the refutation next to it. Ib.
