פְּצֵי, פְּצָא (b. h. פָּצָה) [to split] 1) to open (the mouth). Targ. Job XXXV, 6 (Ms. פָּאצֵי). —2) (cmp. פָּדָה a. פָּדַע) to rescue, save. Ib. XXXVI, 16 פְּצָאִינָךְ (h. text הסיתך). Targ. Ps. XXII, 9; a. fr. —3) (cmp. פָּצַע) to branch off. Ab. Zar. 17ᵃ חד פָּצֵי לע"ז וכ׳ Ms. M. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) one road branched off towards an idolatrous temple, and another to a house of prostitution.— *4) to pass between. Pes. 111ᵃ ואי פ׳ Ar. (Ms. O. 2 פַּצְיָא; Ms. O. 2 אִיפְּסַע ed. ממצעין) and if one (she) passes.
