עוֹשֶׁף עוֹשֶׁף, (cmp. חסף, a. b. h. חָשַׂף) the curved blade of a double-edged axe, that part which is used for paring or chipping, adze, contrad. to בית בקּיע that part which is used for splitting, v. בִּיקּוּעַ. Kel. XIII, 3 עוֹשְׁפֹּו (Ar. עָשְׁפּוֹ; R. S. a. l. reads: אָשְׁפֹּו). Tosef. Kel. B. Mets. I, 3 קרדום … ועשפו מן הטהור (ed. Zuck. ועשהו, R. S. to Kel. XI, 4 ועשאו, corr. acc.) an axe which one made of unclean material, but the adze-shaped part of it is of clean material. ערכים סמוכים
