סְפֵי, סְפָא ch. same 1) to cut, apportion, give to eat. Targ. Y. Num. XI, 18 (ed. Vien. יַסְפִּי׳ Af.).—Pes. 3ᵇ מי קא סָפוּ לך מאליה have they given you a piece &c.? v. preced. Ḥull. 107ᵇ לא סְפִינָא לך I should not have given thee to eat. Ib. קא סָפִית לבראי וכ׳ thou didst feed my son, and didst not wash thy hands (v. מְשֵׁי). Ib. 95ᵇ איכו השתא סְפִיתוּ וכ׳ how near you came giving the sons of B. forbidden food to eat. Ib.ᵃ top מי לא סַפְיִי לך וכ׳ (Ar. סְפָאִי) should I not have given thee a portion of the fat ox?
