אָסַף (b. h.; √סף, v. Ges. H. Dict. s. v.; cmp. גרר, a. אגר I) [to scrape together], to gather, harvest. Snh. III, 3 אוֹסְפֵי שביעית those who harvest the fruits of the Sabbath year (for storage); ib. 26ᵃ אוֹסְפִין (opp. to סוחרין traders in fruits of the Sabbath year).
    Nif. - נֶאֱסַף 1) to be gathered; to be taken away (by death). Num. R. s. 14 (p. 257ᵈ ed. Amst.) והם נֶאֱסָפִים לשָׁמְעוֹ and they (the people) gather themselves to hear him. Ib. (p. 258ᵃ) בזמן שבעליהם נאספים מהם after their teachers have been taken away from them (when they are dead); Pesik. R. s. 3; Koh. to XII, 11; Tanḥ. B’haãl., 15; a. e. —2) to be picked up. Kidd.
