  1. סִכְּתָא, (v. סִכָּא), (corresp. to h. יָתֵד)
  2. סִכְּתָא, thorn, peg, nail (of the tent). Targ. Jud. IV, 21, sq.; a. e.—Gitt. 32ᵃ אפי׳ ס׳ וכ׳ even the peg in the wooden partition becomes loose (from the heat). Snh. 112ᵃ תלי בס׳ Ms. M. (ed. סיבטא) it hangs on a peg; Arakh. 7ᵇ. Erub. 53ᵃ ואנן כי ס׳ וכ׳ for us (the labor of impressing traditions on our memory is) like driving a peg into the wall. Ab. Zar. 38ᵃ דשדי ס׳ לאתונא who threw a tent pin (or a coulter, v. infra) in the stove (to let it dry); Sabb. 74ᵇ.—Y. Dem. I, 22ᵃ בס׳ איתעריית she remained hanging on a projecting peg (in the well).   3. סִכְּתָא, a sort of spade. Targ. O. Deut. XXIII, 14 (ed. Amst. סִיכְתָא; Y. סִיכָּא (not סִיכָא).
  4. סִכְּתָא, = סִכָּא דפדן, coulter. Targ. I Sam. XIII, 20 סִיכַּת, constr. (not סִיכַת).—Lam. R. introd., end תקף ידיה אסִיכְּתֵיה he pressed his hand on his coulter.—Pl. סִכָּתָא, סִיכָּ׳; constr. סִיכַּת. Targ. I Sam. XIII, 21.
