לִחְיָא, the cheek-piece of a bridle.—Pl. לְחִיאָתָא. Hos. XI, 4 ומוריך בלְחִיאָתְהוֹן ed. (ed. Lag. בלַחְוָתָא; oth.ed. לְחוֹאָתָא, לוֹחֲאָ׳, לחיאתא, omitting the suffix) lengthening (loosening) their bridles (h. text לחיהם).
לִחְיָא, stake as a Sabbath mark, leḥi, v. preced. Erub. 15ᵃ נפל ל׳ the leḥi had fallen over.—V. לְחָיָיתָא.
