כַּשְׁפָּנִית, (כָּשַׁף) engaged in, inclined to sorcery. . Y. Snh. VII, 25ᵈ top (ref. to Ex. XXII, 17) (the text speaks only of females) מפני שרוב הנשים כ׳ because most women are inclined to sorcery (Bab. ib. 67ᵃ מצויות בכשפים, v. כֶּשֶׁף). Yoma 83ᵇ נשים כ׳ women engaged in sorcery.
