כִּנָּרָא, name of a shrubby tree, Christ’s-thorn or lote (Greek adapt. κόνναρος, v. Löw, Pfl., p. 283 sq.). Meg. 6ᵃ Kinnereth is Ginnosar (Gennesareth) and why is it called Kinnereth משום דמתיקי פירהא ככ׳ Ar. (v. Rabb. D. S. note 3) because its fruits are as sweet as those of the Kinnara; [Var. quot. in Ar. כי קלא דכ׳ as sweet as the sound of the lute; Ms. O. כקוליא דכ׳]. Y. ib. I, 70ᵃ bot.
