כַּנְתָא f. (כנן) winding, convolution, 1) (sub. דמעיא) ileum, the third division of the small intestines. Ḥull. 48ᵇ; 113ᵃ, v. הֲדוּרָא. Gitt. 69ᵃ כ׳ פטירתא the ileum of a first-born.—Yalk. Koh. 976 (counting ten stations of the digestive process) מכרוכא עבה לכְנַת מעיא from the large winding (jejunum) to the ileum (corresp. to סני(א) דיבי, Lev. R. s. 3, a. Koh. R. to VII, 19). [Koh. R. l. c. כנת מעיא some ed., read בנת.] —2) (cmp. כֶּרֶךְ, אִמְבּוּרְקְלוֹן) wrapper of loosely woven matting. Succ. 20ᵇ חזו לכ׳ דפירי Ar. (ed. לכינ׳, Ms. M. לבנ׳; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) are fit for baling fruits. Keth. 105ᵇ כ׳ דפירי a bale of fruits, כ׳ דגלדני of small fish.
