כִּלְכּוּל, כִּילְ׳, כַּלְכָּל m. (כִּלְכֵּל) 1) hair-crown (cmp. כְּלִילָא), front hair from temple to temple. Sabb. VIII, 4 (78ᵇ) כדי לעשות כ׳ (Bab. ed. כלכל; Ms. M. כדי לסוד כי׳, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) enough to produce a crown by depilation of undergrowth. Ib. 80ᵇ, v. אַנְדִּיפֵי. Naz. 3ᵃ (ref. to Mish. ib. I, 1 הריני מכלכל) how do we know דהאי כ׳ שערו הוא that this vow refers to letting the hair grow?—Nidd. 52ᵇ; Tosef. ib. VI, 6 (ref. to the hair around the pudenda as evidence of maturity) כ׳ זה איני יודע (מהו) about this kilkul I know nothing. —2) support, sustenance. Naz. l. c. אימא מיזן עניי I may say that the kilkul (of the Mishnah, v. supra) means supporting the poor.
