חֵרֵשׁ, [closed up,] deaf, dumb (cmp. אִלֵּם); deaf and dumb. Ter. I, 2 ח׳ שדברו וכ׳ the ḥeresh of which the scholars speak (in a legal sense) means everywhere deaf and dumb.
