חַפְיָא I m. (preced.) 1) cover, overlaying.—Pl. חפְיֵי. Targ. Y. Num. XVII, 3, sq.; v. חוֹפָאָה. —2) (adj.; cmp. חוּס) bending over, concerned. Koh. R. to I, 3 לגרמיה ח׳ הוא (some ed. חַפְיָה) he is concerned about himself (his honor, because he has not been invited.)
