חֵילָה, = חוֹלָה II, dance, song; rejoicing. Midr. Till. to Ps. XLVIII, 14 ד"א לח׳ לשירה another interpretation (v. חַיִיל), l’ḥelah (Ps. l. c.) means, to song; עתיד הקב"ה לעשות ח׳ וכ׳, v. חוֹלָה II.—Deut. R. s. 1 (ref. to התחולל Ps. XXXVII, 7) when afflictions befall thee, קבל אותן בח׳ receive them with rejoicing; (Yalk. Ps. 729 כחוֹלְלִים like dancers).
