חַיְּיתָא חַיְּיתָא, (חות, cmp. נְחַת a. Syr. חתא pera a. trabs, P. Sm. 1408) pouch, bag. Gitt. 45ᵇ ח׳ דתפילי a bag containing T’fillin. Ḥull. 45ᵃ (by play on חייתא life a. bag) וסימניך ח׳ דמתנח ביה וכ׳ and thy sign (to remember which of the two skins is essential for life), the bag in which the cerebrum lies. Keth. 93ᵃ; B. Kam. 9ᵃ, a. e. ח׳ דקטרי וכ׳ thou wast satisfied to buy a pouch sealed with knots, i.e. it is your fault that you did not examine the purchase.—Gitt. 47ᵃ, v. גַּלְגַּלְתָּא.
