גָּרַד, (denom. of גֶּרֶד 2) to cut the web with its fringes off the loom. Yoma 72ᵇ (expl. בגדי השרד Ex. XXXV, 19) בגדים שגֹּורְדִין אותן כברייתן מכליהן וכ׳ webs which they cut off the looms in their needed shape (so as to require no tailoring), leaving a small portion of the unwoven threads.
