*בַּקְלָסָא, (בקלס, בקל with ס intens., as בלעס a. בלע; cmp. Syr. בוקלא P. Sm. 474; √בק, cmp. בקעת) club, shepherd’s crook. Gen. R. s. 38 קם נסב בקלסיה (or בקלסא) he stood up, took (his) crook and broke the idols, ויהב בוקלסא וכ׳ and placed the crook into the hand of the largest of them (Rashi בולקסא, corr. acc.).—Pl. בַּקְלָסֵי, (בַּקּוֹלְסֵי) בּוּקְלָסֵי. Zeb. 105ᵃ נקיטי לה בבו׳ Rashi (ed. בבקולסי; Ms. M. בקלסי, Ar. s. v. קלס, בקולסי, Ms. R. 1 בקינסי, Ms. K. בקונסי) they seize it (the sacrifice to be burnt) with crooks (while standing outside).
