*אֱיפוֹפֵי, ĕfofé, a disguise of ĕlohé (אֱלֹהֵי); cmp. אִשְׁקוּקָה, אֲלִיקִי. Y. Ned. XI, 42ᶜ top, how did you swear? He said, ‘I swore Efofé Yisrael’ (for, By the God of Israel), ‘I will not enter my house’. He replied, (you said) Efofe Yisrael, ולא עללת לביתיך (not עללה) and on that account you would not enter your house?
