שִׁלְיָא ², (שָׁלָה II, שָׁלֵו; cmp. Zeph. I, 12; Jer. XLVIII, 11) sediment, dregs. Tosef. B. Bath. V, 7 של יין משתיעשה ש׳ (Var. משעשה) the merchant’s wine measures must be cleaned as soon as sediment is formed (which diminishes their capacity).
