שׁוֹשָׁטָה, (reduplic. of שׁוֹט) rod-holder, keeper of a vivarium. Lev. R. s. 5 משל לש׳ של דוב וכ׳ this is like the case of the keeper of a bear that ate the bear’s rations (v. סִידּוּר); Yalk. ib. 469 שושנה (corr. acc.). Yalk. Num. 729 שׁוֹשָׁטוֹ (not שושבינו) his (the lion’s) keeper.
