שׁוּלְחָנִי, (preced.; cmp. τραπεζίτης) money-changer, banker. Tosef. Sabb. I, 8 ולא הש׳ בדינר וכ׳ nor must the money-changer (go out shortly before the Sabbath begins) with a Denar suspended from his ear; Sabb. 11ᵇ; Y. ib. 3ᵇ top. Num. I, end, 46ᵇ ש׳ היו נוטלין וכ׳ the money-changers took it (the agio of exchange) for their labors.
