שָׁגַשׁ I, (apocop. of שגשג, transpos. of גשגש, v. גָּשַׁשׁ; cmp. גִּעְגֵּעַ, a. כֶּסֶךְ, כַּסְכַּס) to feel around, dabble, fumble. Tanḥ. P’ḳudé 3 עולם שני דומה לחזיר שהוא שׁוֹגֵשׁ וכ׳ in the second period man is like the swine that searches in the dunghills: so does the child two years old dabble in dirt.
