רִישׁ, v. רָשׁ) poverty, misery. Num. R. s. 10 (ref. to Prov. XXXI, 7) על האובד יאמר שישכח המות שהיא רִישׁוֹ ועמלו this refers to the lost (the culprit before execution), (give him to drink,) that he may forget the threatening death which is his misery and trouble.
