פַּרְדָּנִית, (פָּרַד; cmp. פֶּרֶד II) a woman that goes out alone, run-about. Tanḥ. Vayesheb 6 לא מן הרגל שלא תהא פדרנית (transpos. of פרד׳) the Lord did not create woman out of Adam’s foot, that she might no be inclined to run about; (Gen. R. s. 18, a. e. פַּרְסָנִית). Tanḥ. Vayishl. 5 בשביל שהיתה רגילה פדר׳ וכ׳ because she was in the habit of going out alone, she brought disgrace upon herself. Y’lamd. to Gen. XXXIV, 1, quot. in Ar. פרדנית, as Var. of פרסנית q. v.
