פִּיסְּתָא, piece, esp. bread (v. פִּיתָּא). Y. Ber. VI, 10ᵇ bot. בגין דאנא אכל פִּיסְּתִי … דהדין פסא וכ׳ when I eat my bread and, not knowing how to say grace, I say, blessed be he who has created this piece &c. (Bab. ib. 40ᵇ מריה דהאי פיתא). Y. Sabb. VII, end, 10ᵈ קופדה משלים לפ׳ פ׳ וכ׳ meat may serve as a complement to bread (to complete the legal size), but bread cannot serve as a complement to meat. Tanḥ.
