סַסְגּוֹנָא

סַסְגּוֹנָא, (comp. of סס, v. סוּס a. שׂוּשׂ, a. גַּוְנָא) [of glistening color,] sasgona, sasg’vana (Chald. rendition of תַּחַשׁ)
סַסְגּוֹנָא, name of an animal the skin of which was used for covering the Tabernacle. Targ. Ex. XXV, 5. Ib. XXVI, 14 (Y. ססגוו׳); a. e.—Sabb. 28ᵃ היינו דמתרגמינן ס׳ שסָס בגוונין הרבה Ar. (ed. ששָׂשׂ) that is the reason why we translate (tasḥash) with sasgona, because it glistened with many colors.
סַסְגּוֹנָא, name of a color, scarlet (v. P. Sm. 2682). Targ. Cant. VII, 2 סנרלין דס׳ (not דססוגונא) scarlet shoes (cmp. Ez. XVI, 10).
